Minutes

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President, Jodie Marshall.

Minutes: Joan made a correction that she volunteered for the May 2012 meeting. The minutes of the January 2012 meeting were reviewed and approved with the correction.

Treasurer's Report: Coleen gave the Treasurer's Report. The room deposit for the Lincoln Bead Bazaar has already been paid, as well as the NBS portion for payment for the Omaha Bead Bazaar.

Librarian's Report: Nan brought books available for check out.

Omaha Bazaar: April 14, 2012 , 9am to 4pm, Westside Community Center, 3534 S. 108th St, Omaha, NE
Lincoln Bazaar: Date confirmed as Oct. 13, 2012 at 3901 N. 27th. Lincoln (note change of date reported in the Jan. minutes)

New Business:
WORKSHOP:
Jodie announced the dates for the Jeanette Cook workshop:
July 21-22, 2012
10am-5pm each day
Location: 6900 L Street
Before taking place holder checks, members were reminded that such workshops are only possible when all members contribute to the organization. In order to participate in workshops, members are asked to help at the Lincoln and Omaha Bead Bazaars and/or teach classes at the monthly meetings.

Specific Jeanette Cook classes will be decided upon at the March meeting. Members were asked to go to the Jeanette Cook website, print out and bring to the March meeting the classes they were most interested in.

There being no further business, the business meeting was adjourned. Jodie supplied copper pieces and presented instructions on how to make copper brick stitch earrings.

Meeting This Thursday!

It's meeting time again! I will be guiding everyone in making this brick-stitch pendant or earrings on copper wire. I will have wire pieces for you to purchase. Please bring seed beads in assorted sizes and colors, as well as fire polish beads in 3, 4 or 6 mm. size. Also, the usual beading suplies...needles, thread and wax.

Please, if you are a member, plan on attending this meeting! We will be discussing our next workshop! Important information!! Look forward to seeing you on this Thursday at 7:00!

Jeanette Cook: The Board authorized Jodi to go ahead and make specific plans for a workshop.

New website: Board authorized small fee to student for production of new NBS website.

Meeting Room: The Board recommended that we try to change the meeting room to the upstairs craft room at Eastmont Towers.

Bead Bazaar: Date change: Saturday October 6, 2012

New Business:

1. There are many vacancies in the 2012 meeting project schedule. Members are encouraged to participate in teaching a topic or suggest guest speakers or local exhibits.

2. The NBS has a new website: http://nebraskabeadsociety.com/

It has links to the NBS blog spot.

3. Jodie is working on setting up a member workshop with Jeanette Cook.
