Call to Order: President, Kim D., called the meeting to order.
Treasurer’s Report: Kathi gave the Treasurer’s Report.
Upon further investigation, Kim D. found out that the current policy is for liability only. A motion was made and seconded to continue the current policy at least one more year, because of the upcoming Laura McCabe workshop. Motion voted on and approved.
GEM AND MINERAL SHOW APRIL 1 & 2, 2017:
The goal of participation in the Gem and Mineral show has been to increase visibility of the Nebraska Bead Society. Last year’s participation did not result in any new members. Mary suggested working with the Extension office to work with groups such as 4H to promote beading. A motion was made and seconded to not participate in the 2017 Gem and Mineral Show. Motion passed.
Names suggested for a 2018 teacher included Nancy Cain, Sherry Stokey (micro-macrame) and Met Inmon.
Laura McCabe 2017 workshop - Members registered at the November meeting. Since the projects have not been decided upon yet, the registration fee of $30 per day may be returned, if anyone did not like the project. Mona is no longer able to host Laura. The room next to the regular meeting room was toured. This room will be used for the McCabe workshop.
BYLAWS AMENDMENT: At the July 16, 2015 meeting, it was moved, seconded and approval voted to have past-presidents pay dues in 2016. It was later pointed out that this change will require a ByLaws change. While the bylaws are being addressed, it was also recommended that the annual dues increase from $18 to $25. A 30 day notice is required before bylaws can be changed. Notice will be sent and voting will occur at the December 15, 2016 meeting.
